Did You Know The Game Used To Be A Stripper?

There is nothing wrong (to me) with a little twerking for some cash. I, personally, won't do it, but I don't judge folks who do it, or have done it in order to support their lifestyle. Whatever works for you as long as it does not affect me is my moto!


So it came as no surprise that The Game's step-father has outted him for being a stripper in the past because The Game's mother used to own a strip club for male exotic dancers. As stated by his step-father, The Game only danced twice in his life. However, certain folks who have witnessed The Game's dancing skills won't let him live the experience down.

Hodari Sababu appears in the documentary Hood Life: A Hip Hop Guided Tour of Compton tour, which includes a story of his stepson’s (alleged) stripping past.


In the film, put together by Pitchfork Media, Sababu gives a tour of areas in Compton, like the “stroll” on Long Beach Blvd. After explaining how to differentiate a prostitute who may have HIV/AIDS from a healthy specimen, he delves into the story of opening the strip joint with Game’s mom. “Me and Game’s mom, we started a male exotic club. What we used to do we used to come get guys fresh out of jail, you know they was buffed up and they needed money. A lot of these guys can’t go and fill out an application and get a job, but hey if they look good, they been working out, we put ‘em on. We get ‘em a thousand bucks a week.”


As for Game, his stripping career was short-lived. “Jayceon danced maybe twice, and 50 Cent will not let him forget it. Somehow, somebody got pictures of him dancing in that club with his g-string on, and boy, boy, boy.” ~HipHopWired.com

New Video: Eve - She Bad Bad

The illest pitbull in a skirt who hails straight out of Philly is back with a new visual titled "She Bad Bad". The new single will be off of Eve's album titled "Lip Lock" which is due out some time in April. The beat for "She Bad Bad" was produced by Jukebox and Eve's album "Lip Lock" will be released as an independent project on her own label titled "Blondie Rockwell Inc."

SUMMER HAIR IDEA

A while back I had posted the photo above on my personal instagram. It was a photo of Lauren's hair while we were on set of her Kohl's photoshoot. Some of you wanted to know how to do this braid/twist combo. Thought I would re-create it for a tutorial. Would be a great look for a wedding, a date or just a weekend out and about with your bests. Here's how to get the look in 6 simple steps.

You will need: 2 small clear elastics, 2 small bobbypins, 2 large bobby pins, your flat iron (for waves), and some delicate flora.

1. Start by parting your hair where you want. We parted to the side but it looks great in the middle, too! Do a regular french braid (tutorial on how to do that HERE) on one side. Tie the hair off with a small clear elastic once you pass your ear.
2. Then do the same on the other side and tie it off with a small clear elastic as well.
3. Next you're going to use a small piece of hair to conceal the visible elastic. Pick up a tiny piece of hair from underneath the braid and wrap it around the elastic until it's hidden. Now use a small bobbypin to secure. Do the same thing on the other side.
4. Now take both of the ponytails from your braids and twist them back toward each other. Cross them over each other and then...
5. Use 2 large bobby pins to secure them together. We like to do a criss-cross X shape with the pins. They should run parallel to the twists. In other words, just slide the 2 bobby pins in an X formation under the twists.
6. Now add the daintiest, sweetest flowers you can find. My favorite is Queen Anne's Lace. It comes in bigger bunches, but I pick off the individual petals and slide them into the hair. They're so light weight, you don't really need to pin them in. I never have problems with them falling out.

THE LIP HIGHLIGHT

You're probably thinking, not another thing for me to do! But trust me, this one's worth it! Especially if your lips are your best feature. Any time you want to draw attention to a feature, highlight it! And if you try this technique with red lipstick, forget about it! Here's how:

TOOLS:

• Your favorite liquid highlighter (you can see my three favorites by clicking here)
• Your finger

STEPS:

1. Start with the bottom lip and trace the perimeter directly with the highlighter brush.
2. Continue just above the upper lip as demonstrated above.
3. Blend the upper line with your finger until it's almost undetectable.
4. Repeat with the lower line.

Cosmic Love

And now the moment you’ve all been waiting for: Miley Cyrus portraying Future‘s naked alien love interest in the “Real And True” video. And, well, when it comes to intergalactic interspecies love stories, we definitely prefer Katy Perry‘s “E.T.”

In this Rankin-directed video, Future discovers the glittery-skinned extraterrestrial passed out on a moon-like surface (presumably suffering exhaustion from too much space-twerking), and she is brought onto Future’s ship, where he takes a liking to her. The majority of the visual comprises the two pop weirdos staring longingly at each other, as Mr. Hudson pretty much just third-wheels it in his role as Astronaut #2.

Looking for Something to Keep You Warm in Winter? Make It Quilt!

We all need something or someone to keep us warm, especially now that the cold months are here. And because finding a coat offers far less drama than the latter, here is one of our favorite jacket trends this season - quilt! Now, if you've never had a quilt jacket before, we can understand why; nobody wants to look like the Michelin man this fall!

Stay away from puffy styles, and look for something made with down feathers, which offer light but sufficient insulation. Next, make sure it is tailored to give you a nice feminine silhouette - not the silhouette of a Christmas tree. Some are meant to be oversized; look at how it fits you all the way around your body, and see if it's the right cut and size. Don't be afraid to go a size smaller or bigger!

Behind the Scenes of Cara Delevingne’s Donna Karan New York Modeling Stint

Donna Karan New York has already done several photoshoots this month. But it looks like more is yet to come because here is another one with 21-year-old British model Cara Delevingne.

The traffic-stopping series of shoots also features other models such as Jourdan Dunn, Eliza Cummings, and rapper A$AP Rocky. We have to admit that DKNY sure knows how to pick their models, especially after snagging Rita Ora as one of the faces of the brand.

Going back to Cara, she is definitely in her element, as you can see from the following behind-the-scene photos:

Subway reading

On her brilliant blog, photographer Ourit Ben-Haim takes photos of New Yorkers reading on the subway-everything from the Bible to Lolita to Star Wars. There's something vulnerable and intimate about these shots, don't you think? It feels like witnessing a private moment.

Trio of earrings

My mom's tomboy style

My mom recently sent me some old family photos of our cousins, summer vacations, all sorts of things-but what stood out most was my mom's incredible style. She wore Wellington boots, flannel shirts and my dad's sweaters, and her pieces were loose and relaxed. Yet through her tomboyish style, she still exuded grace and femininity. I'm so inspired by these beautiful photos and am going to try to shop my closet to see if I can create some similar outfits. What was your mom's style like?

Encouragement

I've been feeling a little overwhelmed this week. Sometimes it's hard being a grown-up, especially an anxious one. But then my mom sent me this poem, and I'd love to frame it on my desk. It speaks so beautifully to the strength we can carry with us.

spring cleaning

I have begun the agonizing but necessary process of spring cleaning. First stop, my closets, which are filled to the brim with, sadly, too many things I never wear. I've been totally reliant all winter long on the outfit equation of vintage dress + sweater + boots. It was like the ridiculous number of skirts in my closet didn't exist. So when Andy and I decided to go out for tapas last night to celebrate completing phase one of spring cleaning, I wore a long-neglected, just-rediscovered skirt. And shoes--not boots!

Here's a slightly better photo of that necklace, which I love. I didn't wear my glasses for these photos since I kept getting glare off them. I look like a naked mole rat without them. A dour and frightened naked mole rat. Dour is my natural expression, and guess what, when exhorted to smile it gets worse. The frightened part is no doubt due to my horror of having my photo taken.

rainy day woman

We decided to go see the baby capybaras (I love them) at the zoo yesterday. I am not really a big zoo fan--they make me a little sad--but I had to see those capybara babies!

I was excited to see temperatures were supposed to get into the 60s, so I decided to forego tights.

Dress: vintage (and I've had it for at least 15 or 20 years)

Luckily, I still wore my boots, as it started to rain while were at the zoo. Just a little sprinkle at first, but it then commenced to pour for the rest of the day and until early this morning. (I also switched out the vintage black shrug in this photo for a black cardigan, which was a good move. I'm sorry the photo is blurry. I think it's a combination of using the self-timer and poor lighting.)


I was excited to see the Nessie sculpture from last year's ArtPrize looking so happy in her new home at John Ball Park!

And the ducks, of course.

Once we got inside the zoo we rushed to where they keep the capybaras, only to be told by a zookeeper that the babies were too little yet to be let outside. The local paper got it wrong. (No further comment from me on that.)

I was sad. But we did get to see these fabulous and sort of shy wild boars. (The photo is blurry, but I like it.)

The lack of capybaras meant I hadn't sated my desire for cute, furry mammals, so Andy and I rushed through the rain to the Petting Zoo. Foiled again! It was not yet open for petting, BUT...the goats (which I love!) and sheep were all hanging around. This intrepid guy came out in the drizzle in order to get a back-scratching from Andy.

His friend here seemed a bit bashful and just stood there watching us the whole time.

We gave up on the zoo then, and headed out to do some treasure-hunting, which is really the best thing to do in rainy weather. I loved this old Guerlain lipstick ad.

And I did find a few treasures, which you'll be seeing pretty soon!
