Anyone who works in the industry has had 'em: A fashion week related nightmare. We asked designers, editors and stylists to share theirs with us, and then we asked our friend (and super talented artist) Mara Sprafkin illustrate them. Don't be scared...
We’ve heard about Simon Doonan's model-humping pup and Rebecca Taylor's animated dress forms. Today, we hear from Lisa Mayock and Sophie Buhai of Vena Cava about their “Western-meets-S&M” hamster.
We’re backstage right before a critical VC runway show, hustling, trying to make sure everything is perfect, and the show goes off without a hitch. People love it. We get a standing ovation; the show is featured as one of the top ten in WWD, hailed in Vogue, etc. This show makes our career. But the fashion isn’t for people–it’s for hamsters. Somehow this seems totally normal to everyone. We’re not hamsters, just the models in the show are. The concept is kind of Western-meets-S+M with lots of tiny hats, bondage accessories, fringe, and fake smoking guns. It can be hard to see the bondage pieces through hamster fur (some of them are long-haired hamsters), but it definitely comes across on a runway.
