Mariah Carey received the Icon Award for publishing at the BMI Urban Awards at the Saban Theatre in Beverly Hills. Nicki Cannon of course was right by her side to support his wife, and so was long time friend and collaborator, Jermaine Dupri. The highlight of the BMI Urban Awards was the set honoring Mariah Carey’s music legacy. Joe sang We Belong Together; Eric Benet performed One Sweet Day; Karen Clark Sheard of the Clark Sisters did a sweet rendition of Anytime You Need A Friend; and lastly, but certainly not least, Fantasia kicked off her shoes to sing Hero.
