Trend Alert: Unapologetically Sheer Lace Skirts

The lace trend is at its strongest in the recent years, and it looks like it's not waning anytime soon with yet another fashion must-have making its rounds. This time, the oh-so-chic community of fashion bloggers are going short with their skirt linings and going long on the sheer lace skirt trend. Mostly making use of guipure lace (or lace without the mesh), the trend has found yet another way to strengthen its hold in the fashionista circles. Here are five looks we pulled:

1. Sporty Chic

Lena of Lena Panda

Lena of Lena Panda

With the racerback silhouette making a huge comeback with the lingering Isabel Marant sporty fashion craze, it is no surprise that some bloggers would think of mashing up the trend with the romantic lace. Pull out a stark white outfit with a lace skirt, cropped racerback top and a blazer (in case it's still chilly). Finish the look with nude, white and gold accessories to maintain the crispness of the outfit.

2. Casual Stud

We love this casual outfit because it can take you from the office to a dinner out with friends. This outfit is comfortable yet still pulled together enough to work in, and is absolutely brimming with chicness - enough to meet your night life's standards. Give your casual ribbed sweater that extra oomph with a sheer lace skirt and studded pointed toe shoes. Polish the look off with earthy accessories.

3. Crop Top Vixen

Rose of Dadouchic

We love the dramatic flair accompanying the black crop-top-and-lace-combo in this look (see huge furry coat above and the over-the-top accessories below). Go casual with a simple black top or a bit more sophisticated with a lace one. Play around with chunky, attention-calling gold accessories to create this perfect vixen look.

4. Spring Fling

Frances of Frances Cassandra

Frances of Frances Cassandra

This may not be lace (it's organza, to be precise) but it made our list anyway because pretty much follows the shorter lining skirt trend. More importantly, how cute is that floral print? Pair the skirt with a white cropped top, oversized braided hat, and some earth-tone accessories, and you're ready to go head-to-head with spring's prettiest blooms.

5. The Artist

Kefilwe of Kefi Vogue Styles

Kefilwe of Kefi Vogue Styles

We love how absolutely creative this look is - it not only played with the print-on-print trend but it also experimented with combining various textures. The look went absolutely nuts that it actually made sense, which we absolutely adore. Wear the lace skirt with a printed sweater and, most importantly, go all out crazypants on the accessories. The funkier, the more pulled together your outfit will be.

Jennifer Lawrence Does Dior Proud in a Guipure Crop Top

Jennifer Lawrence has had her share of red carpet hits and misses since stepping out into the spotlight around three years ago, with the fashion police going easy on then-19-year-old up-and-coming actress since she was only starting to make a name for herself. At 19, the actress was cast alongside big names such as Halle Berry and Hugh Jackman for the X-Men series, but failed to get international recognition since her character Mystique required that she become unrecognizable onscreen. It wasn't until The Hunger Games was released in 2012 that Jennifer was catapulted straight into the Hollywood spotlight and into the not-so-loving arms of tough fashion critics.

In November of 2012, Jennifer hired the much-coveted stylist to the A-list celebrities, Rachel Zoe, who produced her first big moment on the red carpet at the 2013 Oscars. We're not sure if it was the gorgeous voluminous Dior Couture gown that Rachel Zoe dressed her in (or the fact that she tripped on her way up to the stage to claim her award) that blew up her red carpet moment to epic proportions, but one thing is for sure - Jennifer is no longer letting her style guard down. The actress arrived at the Paris Fashion Week for the Christian Dior show clad in none other than Dior from their Resort 2014 collection.

Jennifer picked out a guipure lace cropped top and matching wool pants ensemble for the show. The beautiful guipure lace top is echoed in the pants by running a lace strip down one leg of the wide-legged pair. Guipure has been a favorite of designers for the last few seasons because it lacks the mesh that usually acts as the foundation for the lace, making the patterns stand out on their own even more. This type of lace has been made even more famous when Victoria's Secret models Miranda Kerr and Candice Swanepoel donned gorgeous guipure dresses from the Australian brand Lover.

Demi Lovato Is Comfortable in Her Own Skin(ny Jeans)

In a world that is increasingly saturated with unattainable idealisms of beauty, social media platforms that promote narcissism, and accessible airbrushing and photo manipulation software, it is becoming equally harder to find celebrity role models that make one feel like it is perfectly okay to be comfortable in one's own skin. Demi Lovato, despite her troubled yet conquered past, is one of these rare celebrity role models.

Since making her strong comeback, Demi has been unapologetic about who she is because who she is - a talented and beautiful woman who embraces her natural curves wholeheartedly - is nothing to be apologetic for. In fact, her motto when it comes to dressing herself up has nothing to do with bouncing her self-image off from another person's, sharing that she dresses herself according to what makes her feel comfortable and beautiful. This is the exact styling mindset that all women should strive for.

Demi has gotten really good at choosing the right silhouettes that emphasize her physical assets, choosing to embrace instead of trying to conceal them. In the Los Angeles leg of The X Factor auditions, Demi chose a pair of very flattering and curve-hugging skinny jeans in a gorgeous gray shade, which she paired with a cotton-blend top and a pair of black pumps.

The popular 620 mid-rise skinny jeans by J Brand have five pockets and are mostly made of cotton. They have slight fading at the front, which gets slightly stronger at the back area, perhaps to emphasize the buttocks. The gray shade remains dark and solid throughout the lower limbs to give the illusion of skinnier ankles. Mid-rise jeans usually look best on those who have lengthy torsos.

Five Cutout Skirt Looks That Won’t Upset Your Mom

The saying “the shorter, the better” is no longer accurate for women who try to look more feminine by wearing skirts. In fact, nowadays, a woman need not chop off a good few inches from the bottom of her skirt in order to recreate a look that would express their femininity better – all that is needed is a substantial amount of cutting and a brilliant strategical placing of that cut.

When it comes to cutout tops, pretty much everywhere that one can poke a hole in has already been poked. Designers eventually asked, “Why stop there?” For designers, deciding on where to put a graceful cut on a skirt without revealing too much skin and compromising functionality proved to be a bit challenging, but not all of them are backing off. Hence, the birth of cutout skirts.

We rounded up five of our favorite blogger looks for these ironic rule-breaking but structured babies.

Maria of Stylissim

Mara of Stylissim

Having a skirt that looks like a giant chomped down its front has never looked this chic. Choose a graceful round cut that’s not too wide and show off a comfortable amount of extra leg. For the illusion of longer legs, go for a high-waisted pencil skirt. If you’re not confident about the length of your torso, lower waistlines should do the trick. For a laid-back but still ladylike look, pair the skirt with a slouchy graphic sweater and pumps.

Isabella of Views of Now

This look shows that it’s all about location, location, location (that and the gorgeous angular cut that is aptly proportional to the height of the skirt). The cutout need not be huge as long as it complements the entire piece – in this case, the roughness of the skirt material is complemented by the triangle cut and the illusion of a wrap skirt. It pays to be a smart dresser, too, since choosing an open back top complements the angular cutout of the skirt. The look is finished off with black heeled booties.

Witchery Stylenanda Burberry

Witchery Quilted Wrap Mini Skirt, AUD $129.95 / Stylenanda Low Back Tee with Snap Button Closure, $35.01 / Burberry Prorsum Woodley Studded Leather and Calf Hair Wedge Ankle Boots, $1,153.03

Kookie of Death by Platforms

Sometimes, it’s not about the size or location of the cutout, but rather the gracefulness of the cut. The hemline of the skirt in this look ever so slightly curves upward, but this shy skirt curve brought an abundance of freshness to the fashion table. For a sophisticated but fun look, pair the skirt with a floral or guipure buttondown shirt and sandals with a fun geometric print.

Nasty Gal Peeking Daisy Skirt, $48.00 / Piece D’Anarchive Tailored Guipure Lace Shirt, 530 (before: 1,330.00) / Atalanta Weller Block Heel Sandal, $459.08

Nadya of Glitter Dessert

Not ready to put away your maxis yet? A compromise is in order. This skirt is reminiscent of the trending (and, let’s face it, slightly overused) high-low skirts, but with a fresh structural take to it. This cut is perfect for those who are not quite ready to go all the way short or, for some weird reason, love how the front of their legs look but equally despise the way the back looks. Style it up with a flowy or draped top, chunky neck pieces and some fancy footwear.

New Look Mugler Alaia

Michelle of Michetteee

What happens when a side slit and a cutout decide to have an offspring? You’re looking at it. This graceful and oh-so-flattering cut is suggestive and sophisticated at the same time. This is perfect for those women who want to look cute and sexy simultaneously (admit it, we’ve all wished that upon ourselves at least once). Pair it with an equally sweet-but-sexy scalloped or lace crop top and some strappy white sandals.
