Maya Angelou Addresses Her Common Comments

A few days ago, Maya Angelou had expressed her disappointment in rapper Common when she found out that her vocals proceeded an opening track in which Common used the "N" word on his new album "The Dreamer, The Believer". Maya's statement about the incident is below:

“I had no idea that COMMON was using the piece we had done together on [a track] in which he also used the ‘N’ word numerous times. I’m surprised and disappointed. I don’t know why he chose to do that. I had never heard him use that [word] before. I admired him so because he wasn’t singing the line of least resistance”.

And this is what Common had to say to Maya Angelou's statement below:

“I told her what ‘The Dreamer’ was about and what I wanted to get across to people. I wanted young people to hear this and feel like they could really accomplish their dreams.”

Many took this back and forth dialogue as some type of war or beef between the two. However, Maya Angelou called into BET's "106 & Park" show to dispute that fact and you can check that out when you click on the "Read More" button below:

I don’t think the word “disappointment” quite makes it. I was “surprised.” I know that Common is brilliant. He may, in fact, be close enough to be called a genius – I’m not sure.

I know that we are all in process and young artists are in process. It’s important to realize that all of you – all of us – [are in process]. There was a statement made by Machiavelli in the 15th century. He said if you want to control the people, separate them, and you can rule them. Divide them and you can conquer them. I will not be divided from Common. By anybody’s imagination, he is brilliant and even genius, maybe. But certainly smarter than us to know that he’s in process. And next week, he might not even use the N-word[,] or the B-word. It may even take two or three weeks, or a month. But I’m not going to be separated from him…

Do your best to not be divided. This doesn’t mean you are supposed to support everything anybody says. Say “I disagree, but I don’t disagree to the point where I want you dead and out of here.” You must understand that, people, we live in direct relation to the heroes and sheroes we have. Always and in always if we don’t have heroes and sheroes and keep them alive, we are nothing.

Yung Berg Follows In Drake's Footsteps!!

As I reported in an earlier post, Drake was seen on the scene playing basketball while showing off his new Aaliyah tattoo. Well, it seems that Drake isn't the only one paying tribute to the fallen angel as Yung Berg decided to follow in his footsteps and got an Aaliyah tattoo of his own as well!

The beautiful Emily B of Vh1's "Love & Hip Hop" is not shy with the cameras as she gives you her all in her new photoshoot for "Kontrol" magazines "Shape Issue". The new issue will be on newsstands everywhere on January 4th, but you can check out Emily B rocking out in the hottest fashions from Alice+Oliva and Michael Kors.

Emily B was styled by Julian Lark who made sure her outfits showed off her curves while Geno Freeman made sure her makeup was on point! HHGS Rumor: Did DJ Drama Get A 21 Year Old Jumpoff Pregnant?

"Alleged" mistress & DJ Drama

According to the good folks over at TheYBF.com, there's a nasty rumor going around about DJ Drama and a 21 year old jumpoff from Kansas and her name ain't Dorothy Gale!

So where do I begin? Well, let's start at the beginning. DJ Drama is a married man and has been married to the beautiful Summer Walker for about 3 years now. As we all know, DJ Drama is one of the hottest DJ's coming out of Atlanta so without a doubt when a dude is popping, out come the groupies and stalkers. Anywho, the rumor was brought to TheYBF's attention not by some anonymous source, it was brought to them by Drama's wife herself!!

Any given weekend from Thursday to Sunday, DJ Drama usually travels around the country DJ'ing parties at different clubs. Apparently this is how he met the alleged 21-year-old mistress who lives in Kansas. We're told she is one of many "pretty" girls who allegedly get paid by club promoters to party with the celebrity guests.


Summer tells TheYBF.com that the woman in question claims she cheated with Drama and he got her pregnant. The mistress told her she is now 4 months pregnant.

How did Mrs. Drama learn about her hubby getting caught up? Because little miss (alleged) mistress did what any 21-year-old would do--she sent Summer a Facebook Message! But get this: DJ Drama apparently didn't want anyone (including his wife) to know about his alleged transgression.

We're told Drama offered little miss (alleged) mistress $10,000 to end the pregnancy...and to keep quiet! Needless to say, she is keeping the baby and told Summer she simply "wants Drama to be a good father to their baby."

Summer went on to say, "When women have babies just to see what they can get from the man it always ends badly....but hoes will be hoes. Devising a plan around selfishness will only get you caught up...its called the short end of the stick."

Mrs. Drama is devastated and plans to end the marriage. Especially because, according to Summer, she's been Drama's right hand in most of his business matters for the last 3 years. And has cared for his kids from previous relationships as if they were her own. Summer is currently on her way back home to Texas to be with family. She and DJ Drama have no kids together. We reached out to Drama about the situation, but his reps offered "No comment."

I'm hoping this rumor isn't true and that Summer and Drama can work it out. Groupies and stalkers will always be in the picture even if the guy ain't that much in the limelight. I've learned first hand in my own relationship that if a chick even thinks your man can do something for her in some type of way, she's going to be on him like white on rice. Us as wives can check these bitches, but at the end of the day we can't check everybody. Here's to hoping everything works out! *Raises glass of wine*

Mashonda Graces The Cover of Yandy's New Magazine "EGL"

Yandy Smith of Vh1's "Love & Hip Hop" decided to start her very own magazine titled "EGL" which stands for "Everything Girls Love". The new magazine will feature former "Love & Hip Hop" castmember, Mashonda who is decked out in a button up shirt and some sequined drawls. And despite being titled the "Don King" of "Love & Hip Hop", Yandy wants her magazine to be focused on the positive things in life.

Baring the same name as her jewelry line, "EGL" will discuss topics like putting the spice back in your relationship, skincare tips every girl should know, 10 health tips for a fabulous new year and a fashionistas favorite time of year which is ......... holiday sales season! :-)

"Life has been great, completely different to say the least. My reality on that show was authentic and totally real. I’m glad that segment of my life is over; it was very melancholic. Being on "Love and Hip Hop" opened my eyes to many things in my life, on and off the screen."

Who Is NFL Baller Victor Cruz?

With playoffs right around the corner, time is on Victor Cruz’s side. Although Victor Cruz is NOT even getting paid a million dollars, he sure is playing like a Multi-Million dollar player only making $405,000.00.

Victor Cruz who is 25 years old is out of New Jersey and went on to attend UMass ranking in at number 4 on the receptionist list with 131 catches. Although he was a hot commodity in college, Cruz went undrafted in the 2010 NFL draft who was later signed by the New York Giants.  Since then, Cruz has had 1,536 rushing yards, 9 touchdowns and 82 catches in the 2011 regular season.  What does this mean? It means that Santonio Holmes who is also a receiver for the Jets and is getting paid $10 million dollars to play, only had 654 rushing yards, 8 touchdowns and 51 catches. What a mess!

Know what you’re investing in people! Giving credit when credit is due is a must and we have to acknowledge Victor Cruz for being a true testament of hard work does pay off. With his famous salsa two step at the end zone every time he makes a touchdown, I see this young man Cruzing his way into the hall of fame.
